After getting real-world experience with my new skin at a clients site, where I had to actually try to find a specific event (theft), I realized how useless the Events page itself was – the little thumbnails did little except provide a link to the lightbox, where the good, usable features were.

So I decided to move the features from the lightbox, into the Events page; something along the lines of an ‘event gallery’ where the full size image would be playable.  This is what I came up with.  It is a rough draft, but what do you think?

I’ve been hard at work on my new ZoneMinder skin, and I feel it is time to make an update. I’ll be posting the details over on the ZoneMinder Forum.

I have been using ZoneMinder for a couple years now, and I’ve always had good experience with it.  For the cost (free!), you just can’t beat the features – most commercial video surveillance solutions don’t even come close.  Anyway, while it has always worked well, I was never quite satisfied with the web interface – so I have been working on a new one; something more modern and end-user friendly.
